What is involved in a gas installation safety check?

It is important to have the gas system checked every year, even if you don’t use your caravan or motorhome often. The reason for this is that the flues in the appliances could get blocked with debris or even creepy crawlers, creating cobwebs. A blocked flue can result in the appliances not working, or more seriously, resulting in incomplete combustion, where carbon monoxide will occur.

• Gas regulator performance and date
• Gas hose and date
• Pipework and isolation taps
• Check appliances for operation only, including FFDs
• Security of gas cylinders
• Gas locker seal
• Display of a LPG sticker
• Check gas drop holes for blockage
• Check the smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm
• Carry out a gas soundness test
